As I was looking for a location for this photo shoot, something about this old twisted tree just spoke to me. As I stood beneath this ancient oak in my Florida Winter best, I thought of the song "Wild Wood" by Paul Weller and I got lost in my memories from long ago.

Sometimes the holidays feel like I'm lost in the wild wild wood of my memory. Remembering who I was, where I came from, and all the people that have drifted from my grasp.

The holidays bring moments of great happiness and love to many. I am lucky to have found a deep love with my forever best friend/husband. We have two beautiful daughters that teach me more about life than I could have ever hoped for, and my Christ centered faith is an anchor to my soul.

There are times that I am so happy, that it does not feel real.

But my life has not always been a picture perfect paradise.

My parents had a 22 year age gap and were forever at odds.

Then with all the mystery that is life, I arrived on the scene.

Happy family times were few, and many a holiday was filled with tears and heartache.

A happy family was all I ever wanted. My Father treated me like a princess, and my mother did not.

It was a hard way to grow up, and some memories leave silent scars that only the soul can see.

I know that the Holidays are hard for many, and I know I am not alone.

I believe in the freedom to choose your own path in life. I am not my parents, and I make my own future.

Memories haunt you when you wish they wouldn't.

Love heals when you least expect it.

Time passes . . . and we all find ourselves lost at one time or other, wandering around in a wild wild wood...

Love, Sem xoxo

Wild Wood

High tide, mid afternoon People fly by, in the traffics boom Knowing, just where you're blowing Getting to where you should be going

Don't let them get you down Making you feel guilty about Golden rain, will bring you riches All the good things you deserve now

Climbing, forever trying Find your way out of the wild, wild wood Now there's no justice Only yourself that you can trust in And I said high tide, mid afternoon People fly by, in the traffics boom

Knowing, just where you're blowing Getting to where you should be going Day by day your world fades away Waiting to feel all the dreams that say

Golden rain will bring you riches All the good things you deserve now And I say, climbing, forever trying Find your way out of the wild, wild wood Said you're gonna find your way out of the wild, wild wood Wild wild wood
