As I am getting ready to celebrate our nation's independence, it's hard not to reflect on what it means to be an American.

Between going to the beach, ( our family always vacations in Siesta Key FL the week of the 4th), BBQ's , picking out the perfect 4th of July outfit, and watching fireworks, I am reminded of the men and women who give/gave their lives for our freedoms we share.

When I think of the American spirit, there are key words that make up our nations fiber.

Brave

Strong

Free

Independent

Hard working

Liberty

Justice

Idealists

fearless

Proud

True

Honest

Different

Dreamers

Daring

Defenders

Fighters

We are all these things and more.

I think that John F. Kennedy says it best...

"I look forward to a great future for America - a future in which our country will match its military strength with our moral restraint, its wealth with our wisdom, its power with our purpose."

Writing this post has helped me get in touch with my American core and I am Proud to call myself an American.
