The Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF, is near and dear to my heart. I have laughed, cried, been at the edge of my seat, and have been transported to faraway places by their many productions.

I have been blessed to sit on the Gala committee for four years and have helped with decorating, arranging gift baskets, flowers and fundraising for the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. We are all preparing for the next Gala to take place on September 18th 2016 ( for tickets go to www.orlandoshakes.org). It truly is the kick off event of the fall social season.

Orlando Shakes is a non-profit regional theater committed to producing classic Shakespeare, musicals, contemporary plays and children's plays. They also offer acting classes and summer camps for kids (k through 12).

"Orlando Shakes operates out of the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare

Center, a 50,000 sq.ft. facility that houses four professional theaters, classrooms, rehearsal halls, patron’s room,

catering kitchen, courtyard, lobbies, gift shop, box office, scenic and costume shops, and administrative offices. Our four performance spaces include the 324 seat Margeson Theater,118 seat Goldman Theater, 99 -seat Mandell Theater, and the 75-seat Santos Dantin Studio

Theater. The Lowndes Shakespeare

Center is located in downtown Orlando at 812 East Rollins

Street in the beautiful and historic Loch Haven Cultural Park"

(quote from www.orlandoshakes.org).

A big thank you to my My friend, Arika Richardson (Development Coordinator) she was so sweet to give me a backstage tour. Here is a glimpse of the paint, and sawdust that makes up Orlando Shakes.

Love, Sem xoxo

Orlando Shakes began their partnership with UCF 27 years ago, performing  just 2 shows – The Taming of the Shrew and The Tempest at the Lake Eola Amphitheater in Downtown Orlando

The building used to be the old science center and Old Historical Museum

The Beautiful Courtyard.

The costume shop only has about 2 weeks per production to put every article of clothing together!

When I was a little Girl my Mother had a dress form named Betsy. I would spend hrs upon hrs dressing Betsy up and draping rich Chinese silks into pretend ball gowns. Well since those long ago days of make believe are gone, whenever I see a dress form, it will always be named Betsy.

Me and the exceptionally talented Denise. She is the head costume designer at OST.

Need a chair for your next scene...there is a collection to choose from

The Scenic Shop...where are all the sets and major props are built.

I just could not resist the urge to perform...LOL. I miss being on stage. One day...

There is a special wall of fame tucked inside the theatre that everyone who works there is encouraged to sign, including Sir Patrick Stewart and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman! Very exciting stuff!

Buy your season tickets today!!!

Backstage tours of the theater are available for a nominal fee, please contact Skip Alderman, Audience Development Manager, at (407) 447-1700 ext. 265 for more information.
