Iconic Chocolate Chip Cookies

When I was a kid, my daddy would make me chocolate chip cookies. It did not happen often, but when it did, it made for some delicious memories. I remember watching my father mixing the cookie batter by hand with a wooden spoon ( no fancy Kitchen Aid mixer when I was growing up). A lot of elbow greese went into those cookies, but that was part of the fun. I remember him telling me that, "If you want something good kid, you have to work extra hard for it; no short cuts in life or cookies."
Well the lesson stuck and I have learned the importance of hard honest work. Thank you Dad for the cookies and the life lessons.
That being said...I bet you are wondering when I will be getting to the recipe part of this blog post...wait for it...almost there.
In my opinion chocolate chip cookies are the most iconic cookie. They are the king of all cookies, and one the most requested at my house.
I am lucky to have made some amazing friends along my journey in life. Emilie and Sierra Tanner are two amazing girls that came to stay with us before they ventured off to Walt Disney's College Program. They gave me their priceless friendship, and the most amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe.
I have made a lot of chocolate chip cookies in my day, and this recipe is the cats meow! The Cookies are always soft and chewy, and this recipe makes A LOT so you can freeze them and have fresh baked cookies any time without all the work. I hope these sweet treats become your go-to iconic chocolate chip cookie recipe too!

The Tanner Famliy's Iconic
Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipie
(They are lovingly called "Tanner Cookies," at our house)
Ingredients:
1 lb (4 sticks) of unsalted butter softened
2 cups of Dark brown sugar (packed)
1 1/2 cups of sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
4 cups of chocolate chips
6 cups of flour
Directions:
Mix butter and sugars together ( I use a stand mixer with the paddle attachment) until smooth and combined well.
Add eggs and beat until batter is light and fluffy( it should turn a lighter color).
Add the salt, soda and vanilla, then slowly add the 6 cups of Flour slowly, then all the best part: the chocolate chips!
Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes or until done.
Semra's pearl of wisdom: Place the cookie dough on wax paper and place into a freezer plastic bag...so you can have fresh cookies when friends drop by.
